1. Information We Collect

We may collect basic analytics and technical data such as device type, browser, approximate location, pages visited, and referral source to improve service quality. If you contact us directly, we may also process the information you provide in your message.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to operate and improve our websites, understand traffic trends, prevent abuse, and respond to user inquiries.

3. Cookies, Advertising, and Google AdSense

We and our partners may use cookies or similar technologies (including local storage, web beacons, and device identifiers) for analytics and advertising purposes.

We use Google AdSense, a web advertising service provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other sites on the open web. Google may use advertising cookies (including the _gcl, IDE, NID, and ANID identifiers) to recognise your browser, store device and browser information, and serve ads that are relevant to your interests. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by the Google advertising policies.

We may also work with other third-party advertising vendors (such as programmatic exchanges) who may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver or measure ads on this site.

4. Interest-Based Advertising and Opt-Out

We use Google's interest-based advertising features to show ads that may be relevant to your interests. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time:

You can also reset your advertising identifier or limit ad tracking through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).

5. EEA, UK, and Swiss Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable local laws, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict the processing of, or port your personal data, and the right to object to processing or withdraw consent.

Our lawful basis for processing personal data is either your consent (for example, when you accept non-essential cookies via our cookie banner) or our legitimate interest in operating and improving the website (for example, server logs and aggregated analytics that do not identify you personally).

We display a cookie consent banner on your first visit. By default no non-essential cookies are set and the Google AdSense script is not loaded until you make a choice. The banner offers three options: Accept all, Reject all, or Customize by category. If you choose Reject all, or you turn off the "Advertising" category in Customize, the AdSense auto-ads script does not load and no advertising cookies are set. If you choose Accept all, the AdSense auto-ads script loads and Google may set cookies for ad serving and frequency capping as described in the Cookies, Advertising, and Google AdSense section above.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the website footer, or by clearing your browser’s wv_consent localStorage entry. Strictly necessary cookies (session, security, language preference) are always set regardless of your choice.

To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. Our data controller for EEA/UK users is Walk Voyage (contact above).

6. California Users (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to delete that information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law. We also do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a "Limit Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" link.

California residents may exercise these rights by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days as required by the CCPA.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Walk Voyage is a general-audience travel guide and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under 13 in violation of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or any equivalent law.

If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the information promptly.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with trusted service providers for hosting, analytics, security operations, and ad serving (Google AdSense and any other advertising partners we work with).

9. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
